Cognio DesignOps 1.1 Release Notes
New Features
- Added Multi-Room Gating and Gain-Sharing Automixer modules to enable automixing across multiple Spaces. See Multi-room Gating Automixer and Multi-room Gain Sharing Automixer.
- Added a Show Main Controls property to the automixers. Turn it off to hide the main section so that a distributed automixer's channel strips read as one continuous automixer. See the Properties section of each automixer, such as Gating Automixer.
- Added new Control Selector module for selecting between different Control Signal sources at run time. This is especially useful to change the Follower source for one of the new Multi-room Automixers. See Control Selector.
- Added a new Audio Generator module that plays looping speech and music clips, selectable independently for each signal. A delay setting offsets the outputs, so the module can supply uncorrelated signals for automixer testing. See Audio Generator.
- Added Undo support in the Control Panel editor. Use
Ctrl+Zto undo the last change, andCtrl+Yto redo it. See Undo and Redo. - Added a 1/2 State mode in CPG Design view, allowing you to review and apply changes to both control states at once. See Editing Both States at Once.
- Added editable labels and a configurable number of positions to Radio Buttons and Drop List controls. Segment labels can now show custom abbreviations while still selecting the correct underlying value. See Option Text.
- Added Icon properties in the Text and Icon property group. This enables icons to be added along with text to Buttons and stand alone Labels. See Text and Icon.
- Added a Recall Group Presets command to Radio Buttons and Drop Lists, allowing all presets within a selected Preset Group to automatically populate as selectable options. See Recall Group Presets.
- Added a Recall Entire Group command to Control Panel controls, which recalls every preset in a Preset Group in one action. See Using Preset Groups on Control Panels.
- Added an Import Lua Script button to Control Panel Group and Managed Device properties, which re-imports the Lua script from its Script Location and restarts it on demand. See Scripting.
- Added a Remote Control method to enumerate the presets defined in the loaded site, so integrations can discover preset names instead of relying on build-time knowledge. See Device.GetPresets.
- Added a Remove Space from Device button to Space Properties in the Modifier Panel, which removes the Space from the hardware it runs on without changing the design in DesignOps. Use it to clear a Space that is preventing a new design from syncing. See Remove Space from Device.
- Added faster Control Panel creation workflows. You can now drag a module’s control parameters into a Control Panel Group to recreate its layout in a single gesture, or drop a single modules control onto a panel to quickly map or remap it. See CPG Assign Modal.
- Added label support to Readout and Numeric controls, matching the labels available on buttons. Enable labels by selecting the Label checkbox in the design properties. See Readout.
- Added locked export for Managed Devices, so a device can be shared without exposing its design or script. A locked Managed Device cannot have its layout or script edited after import. See Locked Managed Devices.
- Added per-state Cap Style for Toggle Buttons, allowing each button state to have its own cap color and styling. See Toggle.
- Added Radio Button and Drop List controls to Scripted Modules. See Radio Button and Drop List Parameters.
- Added support for embedding product or brand logos into custom Managed Devices, making them visually identifiable in Space View. See Product Logo.
- Added the ability to hide, or uncheck the fader option in a Fader control, making it easy to build up/down button pairs without a fader. See Fader.
- Added a Trigger button function in Control Panels alongside Latched and Momentary functions, allowing users to drive scripts and Interface Modules. See Function Type.
- Added Properties for Vertical Scrolling and Fit Width to View for Control Panel Groups making them more flexible when served by the C20 Web App. See CPG Properties and Fitting Control Panels to the Screen.
- Added file versioning. Site files, signal path exports, and Control Panel Group exports now record the version with which they saved, and files from Cognio DesignOps 1.0 and 1.0.1 are upgraded automatically when opened. As much as possible, the upgrade keeps designs looking and behaving the same, and files saved by a newer version of Cognio DesignOps are refused with a message to update. See File Versioning.
- Added a cell counter to the Signal Path grid that shows how many cells are selected as you drag. See Counting Selected Cells.
Fixes and Improvements
Application
- Improved the default layout so the Modifier Panel opens alongside the Toolkit when the app launches. See Workspace Layout.
- Fixed an issue where the local app data temp folder accumulated a sub-folder for every site ever opened.
- Updated the Help → Training menu item to link to the Symetrix training site. See Menu Bar.
Control Panels
- Fixed an issue where double-clicking a panel in the All Control Panels view opened the editor for the first panel rather than the selected one.
- Fixed visual flickering when dropping a control onto another or switching between the Managed Device and Control Panel lists.
- Fixed an issue in the Tabular view where panels showed panel numbers instead of custom names and pagination navigation malfunctioned. See Tabular.
- Performance was drastically improved in the Control Panel editor, especially for large sites.
- Fixed an issue where adding a module's first control by dragging sometimes failed to highlight it in the module.
- Fixed an issue where deleting controls in a duplicated Control Panel Group also deleted them from the original.
- Fixed a crash when switching a Control Panel Group with a mapped Clip LED to the Tabular view in Operation Mode.
- Fixed an issue where controls could be added to the fixed control panels of endpoint devices, such as xIO XLR and Bluetooth units. See CPG Toolkit.
Controls
- Fixed an issue where changing a Drop List to another control type lost its fill color (e.g., turning a red Drop List into an uncolored button).
- Fixed faders in Scripted Modules rendering wider than elsewhere in the app.
- Fixed truncated text on Radio Buttons, Drop Lists, and Label text-type dropdown options.
- Fixed gradient fill colors failing to apply when multiple controls were selected.
- Fixed Radio Button and Drop List hover colors improperly deriving from the fill color instead of the selected color.
- Fixed glow and shadow effects not combining correctly on the same control.
- Fixed mapped buttons showing overflowing labels on Control Panels; for example, Matrix buttons lost their checkmark and an Audio Meter's Clear button showed its full parameter name.
- Fixed an issue where a Drop List's pop-out list sometimes appeared behind other controls.
- Fixed Static Labels being editable in Operation Mode and the Web App, where edits had no effect. See Editing Labels in Operation Mode.
Dante
- Fixed an issue where automatic patching silently failed when too few channels remained after manual patching.
- Fixed an issue where the C20 did not send periodic multicast keep-alive messages, requiring other units to poll it for presence.
- Fixed signal path routing on 64-channel I/O modules with manual patching, where only the first channel reached the signal path.
- Fixed an issue where reducing a module's channel count left the removed channels patched to Dante transmit channels.
- Fixed automatic Dante patching for all xIO XLR units other than the xIn XLR 2.
- Fixed potential audio glitches when using large Dante Channel counts (e.g. all 64-channels in and out) on a C20.
Devices
- Fixed search filtering so searching for a device (such as the xIn 4) correctly displays its child entries.
- Fixed an issue where Smart devices intermittently dropped in and out of the Online Devices list on sites with many paired C20s.
- Fixed the Online Managed Devices list appearing empty when more than one audio network was connected. Now only one Audio Network may be selected at a time. See Select Network(s) Dialog.
- Fixed an issue where changing a paired Managed Device's CPG Name unpaired it.
- Improved the default size of Unspecified Managed Device Control Panel Groups to 400 × 750 so they fit in the Modifier Panel. See Managed Device Properties.
Firmware
- Fixed an issue where xIO firmware update files could default to an incorrect file extension. See Firmware Update.
- Fixed an issue where pushing firmware to a paired but disconnected unit reported success without applying the update. Firmware updates are now unavailable until the device is connected. See Firmware Settings.
Installer
- Fixed the uninstaller presenting an Install button.
- Fixed the Print button on the installer's EULA page doing nothing.
- Fixed the uninstaller executable not being digitally signed.
Meters
- Fixed an issue where a Notch Filter displayed clipping on the Out 3 wire meter when nothing was connected.
- Fixed an issue where clearing clipping on one audio meter signal cleared all clipping LEDs and left some in a stale state.
- Fixed signal flow meters incorrectly showing clipping at +12 dBFS instead of 0 dBFS to match meter modules.
- Improved overall meter performance and decay rates.
- Fixed cases where some meters were not animating.
- Fixed meters that stopped updating after a module's channel count changed.
Modules
- Fixed an issue where copying, pasting, or duplicating a Parametric EQ failed to retain its band frequency values.
- Improved multi-selecting modules with Ctrl in the Signal Path view by disabling individual module controls (patch, mute, close, and signal row handles) to prevent accidental interactions. See Select Module(s).
- Fixed module dragging to display a live preview of the module itself rather than a plain gray rectangle. See Insert and Replace Modules.
- Fixed an issue where module modification controls remained active at very low zoom levels, causing accidental edits and slowing rendering. See Zooming.
- Fixed an issue where the auto-range property on control modules failed to capture and apply the minimum and maximum of the incoming control signal.
- Fixed an issue where the Modifier Panel could not scroll to reach all controls on a large custom Scripted Module.
- Fixed an issue where changing the Preset Recall module's Input default failed and returned a "can't find variable to change" error. See Preset Recall.
- Fixed the Lua Startup and Update Script text boxes in Scripted Modules constantly resizing themselves.
- Fixed a 4-way Crossover with multiple inputs sending audio to the outputs of other channels.
- Fixed factory and default module configurations not refreshing when upgrading the app. This also fixed Factory Default modules not recalling on variants of certain modules (e.g. 4-way crossover).
Presets
- Fixed an issue where the Controls list in the Presets Manager displayed parameter values without their units. See Presets Manager.
- Fixed the Preset Recall module's Recall button being ignored when pressed within the Retrigger Time. See Preset Recall.
Remote Control
- Added default names for Remote and Script Controls, eliminating the need to name every control manually. See Default Names.

- Fixed Managed Device drivers failing to reconnect a socket after disconnecting.
- Fixed cases where script errors were being reported without a line number.
- Fixed a crash when a script name contained a space.
- Fixed Scripting properties still pointing at the previous unit after the paired unit in a Space was replaced.
- Made Script Status and Script Statistics available in Operation mode, so you can monitor, restart, pause, and resume a Control Panel Group's script while operating the system. See Script Status.
Signal Path
- Improved Signal Path clarity: module labels turn white on hover, and empty grid cells highlight to show where a module will be placed. See Grid Feedback.
- Improved row and column insertion with a full-length divider and direction arrows that preview where the new row or column will go. See Insert and Delete Rows and Columns.
- Fixed an issue where moving a signal could delete a signal that had Mults.
Site Files
