Cognio Workspaces

The Cognio environment is organized into three primary views: Site View, Control Panel View, and Space View. Each view provides specialized tools to streamline system design, signal routing, and control configuration.

1. Site View

The Site View is the primary high-level canvas that opens by default when launching Cognio. It displays all the individual Spaces that make up your overall site design.

What is a Space?
A Space represents all the signal processing, audio/video channels, and control parameters for a specific room, zone, or environment.

Getting Started in Site View:

  • Add a new space: Drag and drop Blank Space from the top of the left-hand menu onto the canvas.
  • Import an existing space: Load previously created and saved Spaces directly into the canvas.

2. Space View

The Space View provides a grid workspace where you build and manage the signal processing layout for a specific room or zone.

Opening and Customizing a Space:

  1. Access the Space Grid: Click on the name of the Space (defaults to Space 1) in the upper-left of a Space interface block to open its signal-path grid workspace.
  2. Rename a Space: Select the Space, then click the 3 bars (Menu icon) in the upper-right corner of the interface to open the Properties Panel.
  3. Build Signal Paths: Drag and drop processing modules from the component library directly onto the grid workspace.

3. Control Panel View

The Control Panel View allows you to design and manage user interface screens for touchscreens, mobile devices, or software control interfaces.

Creating and Managing Control Panels:

  • View All Control Panels: Click the All Control Panel Groups tab located directly to the right of the Site View tab. (Note: This section remains blank until Spaces are added to the project.)
  • Add a New Control Panel:
  • Go to the target Space interface block.
  • Click + Add a Control Panel on the right side of the block.
  • Select an existing Control Panel Group from the list, or open a new Control Panel Group workspace to begin building custom control screens.
