Site View Operation Mode
Overview
Operation Mode turns Site View into a live monitoring dashboard. Where Design Mode is for building your Site — adding Spaces, devices, and Control Panel Groups — Operation Mode is for watching a running system: checking device health, reading live audio meters, and working through the Site Log.
To switch modes, use the Operating Mode Selector at the right of the Navigation Bar and click Operation.
Switching to Operation Mode changes two areas of Site View:
- The Toolkit on the left is replaced by the Status summary and the Site Log.
- Each device in the Workspace shows live meters and a per-device status readout, and its editing controls (Pair, delete, and drop targets) are hidden.
Status
The Status panel at the top of the Toolkit summarizes the health of your Site. It groups every log message into a small set of categories, so you can see at a glance where attention is needed:
- Hardware — Cognio Smart Devices, Managed Devices, clipping, and network communication.
- Software — application messages.
- Syncing — pushing and pulling designs to and from hardware.
- Site — the Site itself, Signal Flow modules, and Control Panel Groups.
- Presets — preset recall and management.
- Other — anything that does not fall under the categories above.
Each category shows:
- A count showing the total number of unread messages in that category, and how many of those sit at the most severe level. For example,
2/7means seven unread messages, two of which are at the highest severity present. - A status indicator that is green when the category is healthy and changes color to reflect the most severe unread message in that category.
Only unread (unacknowledged) messages count toward these totals. Marking messages as read in the Site Log clears them from the Status counts.
Click a category to filter the Site Log to just that category's messages. Click it again to clear the filter and show the full log.
Site Log
The Site Log lists every message from your Site in a sortable table. It sits below the Status panel in the Toolkit.
Each entry shows:
- A severity indicator (info, warning, or error).
- The message Type.
- The Source — the device or item that generated the message.
- The Date/Time the message was logged.
- A Mark as Read button.
- The message text, shown beneath the row.
Sort and filter the log
- Click any column heading — the severity icon, Type, Source, or Date/Time — to sort by that column. Click again to reverse the order. The log is sorted by newest first by default.
- Use the search field in the Toolkit to filter the log by text.
- Click a category in the Status panel to filter the log to that category. Selecting a category also highlights the related devices in the Workspace.
Mark messages as read
- Click the Mark as Read button on a row to acknowledge that message. Acknowledged messages are dimmed and no longer count toward the Status totals.
- Click the Mark as Read button in the log heading to acknowledge every message currently shown.
Devices in the Workspace
In Operation Mode, the devices in each Space become read-only and show live monitoring information instead of editing controls. You cannot pair, delete, or add to a device here — those are Design Mode actions.
Each Cognio Smart Device shows:
- Live meters — input and output level meters for the device (up to 16 of each). Each meter rises with the signal level and turns red when the channel clips. Meters appear once the device has a valid IP address.
- A status readout — the same health categories as the Status panel (excluding Software), shown per device so you can see which unit an issue belongs to. Each category's indicator reflects that device's most severe unread message.
- The DSP usage gauge, showing the device's estimated processing load.
Managed Devices and Control Panel Groups remain listed under each device, but their Design-mode editing controls — the Pair buttons, the delete button, and the + Place a Managed Device and + Add a Control Panel Group rows — are hidden.
