CPG Assign Modal

The CPG Assign Modal lets you add a module's controls to a Control Panel Group (CPG) directly from the Space view, without opening the Control Panel Group View. You can add controls as unplaced controls with a click, or drag them straight onto a Control Panel.

The CPG Assign Modal is available in Design mode.

Open the CPG Assign Modal

  1. In the Space view, select the module whose controls you want to add.
  2. In the Modifier Panel, open the Controls tab.
  3. Click the Modifier Modal Button in the lower-right corner of the Modifier Panel, then choose Control Panel.

The top of the Modifier Panel shows Add To Control Panel and a list of the Control Panel Groups in the Site. Choose the Control Panel Group you want to add controls to. Managed Device Control Panel Groups are not listed.

If the Site has no Control Panel Groups yet, one is created for you when you switch to Control Panel mode.

Control Outlines

While the CPG Assign Modal is active, each control in the Modifier Panel is outlined to show its relationship to the selected Control Panel Group. A legend beside the Control Panel Group list shows what each outline means. When the Modifier Panel is narrow, click the help button next to Add To Control Panel to see the legend.

Outline Meaning
Gray dash The control has not been added to any Control Panel Group.
White The control has been added to the selected Control Panel Group, but is not placed on a panel.
Blue The control has been added to the selected Control Panel Group and is placed on a panel.
Purple The control has been added to a different Control Panel Group than the one selected.

Hold Alt to hide the outlines and use the controls normally, for example to adjust a value, without leaving the CPG Assign Modal.

Add or Remove Controls with a Click

Click a control to change its assignment. What happens depends on its outline:

  • Gray dash - Adds the control to the selected Control Panel Group as an unplaced control. It appears in the Control Panel Group's Unplaced Controls list, ready to be placed later.
  • White - Removes the control from the selected Control Panel Group.
  • Blue - Unassigns every copy of the control from the selected Control Panel Group, after asking you to confirm. This cannot be undone.

Channel Containers

The Modifier Panel groups each channel's controls in a container. Click the container's empty area, rather than one of its controls, to act on every control in the channel at once:

  • If none, or only some, of the channel's controls are in the selected Control Panel Group, the missing controls are added as unplaced controls. Controls that are already assigned are left as they are.
  • If all of the channel's controls are in the selected Control Panel Group but not all are placed, they are removed from it.
  • If all of the channel's controls are placed in the selected Control Panel Group, every copy of them is unassigned from it.

A container whose controls belong to a different Control Panel Group does nothing when clicked; click its individual controls instead.

Drag Controls onto a Control Panel

Drag a control from the Modifier Panel to place it directly on a Control Panel. As soon as you start dragging, the Space view is temporarily replaced by the selected Control Panel Group's panels. Drop the control where you want it on the panel. When the drag ends, the Space view returns.

Drag a Container

Drag a channel or other control container container by its empty area, rather than by one of its controls, and drop it on the panel to place every control in that channel in one step. The controls keep the same layout relative to each other that they have in the Modifier Panel.

Dragging a single control from inside the container still places just that control.

Drop a Control onto an Existing Control

Drag a single control from the Modifier Panel and drop it on top of a control that is already on the panel. While you drag, the existing control is outlined with a glow to show it will be remapped rather than a new control created. When you drop, that control is remapped to the new parameter. It keeps its position, size, and styling.

  • Shapes, lines, and icons cannot be remapped. Dropping a control on one of them places a new control instead.
  • Dragging a whole channel always places new controls; it never remaps existing ones.
  • You can undo a remap with Ctrl+Z in the Control Panel Group View.
