Navigation Bar

The Navigation Bar provides access to the open view tabs, Global Status Indicator controls, and the Operating Mode selector.

Functionality

View Tabs

There are four different main Tab types: Site, Signal Flows, Control Panel Groups, and Managers.

  • Site
  • The Site tab will always be shown. It provides access and configuration of the Site.
  • There will only be one Site tab and it cannot be closed.
  • Signal Flow
  • Double clicking a Signal Flow Segment in Site View will add the Signal Flow tab after the previous last Signal Flow tab currently shown. The new tab will be switched to automatically.
  • Any number of Signal Flow tabs can be opened at once.
  • Control Panel Group
  • A Control Panel Group tab is created by double clicking on a Control Panel Group in the Site View or All Control Panel tabs.
  • Any number of Control Panel Group tabs can be opened at once.
  • Managers
  • Any number of Manager View tabs may be opened from various Menu Bar commands.

If too many tabs are opened, the tabs will scroll horizontally with arrows on either side.

Mouse over any tab to reveal an X in the right corner to close the tab. The X appears over the text such that tab does not expand, but the label is truncated.

Closing a tab hides it from the tab bar but doesn't affect its operation.

The tab configuration will be saved as part of the site file so opening a new saved file will restore the last tab configuration.

Global Status Indicators

The Global Status indicators are always shown no matter the active Tab. They provide status information and also act as actionable buttons.

  • Pairing - See the Bulk Pairing indicator section in Pairing
  • Sync - See the Bulk Syncing indicator section in Syncing
  • Network - The network indicator provides the following status information and can be clicked to show the Network Selector dialog
  • Status
    • Not yet initiated - No Networks Selected - No networks have been selected for operation
    • OK - All selected networks are present and available
    • Error - One or more selected networks is not present
  • Network Selector Dialog
    • All the available networks seen by the computer will be listed here with the name and IP address listed.
    • Each will show a check box for Control Network and one for Dante Network. The user can enable none, either, or both for each network to add it to the list of networks to use for searching, pairing, syncing and communicating with devices.
    • OK - Confirms the changes and closes the dialog
    • Cancel - Closes the dialog without using the changes the user made
    • Rescan - Rescans the computer to find new/changed networks
  • Mute - Shows the status of the Global Mute for the System
  • Clicking on it toggles the mute. A mute on/off ramp is applied.
  • AV Ops Center
  • Shows Status of AV-Ops Center Monitoring
  • Clicking Enables/Disables this but requires confirmation. This is the same control as found in the Site Properties.
  • Status Colors
    • TBD but likely match Composer

Hover States provide TBD additional information.

Operating Mode

There are two Operating Modes: Design and Operation. The right side of the Navigation Bar shows the selector for these two modes.

Design Mode

In Design Mode, the user can configure their system and adjust virtually all the parameters. As the name implies, they will use this mode to design their system including adding devices, configuring audio processing, and designing their control screens. But Design Mode can be used when some or all of the design is Synced, so they may be controlling live audio in Design Mode. But usually when controlling the system, the user will choose to switch to Operation Mode.

Operation Mode

In Operation Mode, the user is prevented from changing many aspects of their system. Operation Mode prevents the user from changing things that could break a system, or cause the system to need to be resynced. Operation Mode, as the name implies is generally used while operating a live system, but it is also used for the power Offline Emulation feature when no hardware is connected.

Mode Details

Either mode can be used when Synced or not. Changing the mode has no audible effect on the system; it controls what the user can view, control and change.

The specific effect of Design Mode and Operation Mode as it pertains to different parts of the user interface, will be described in the sections throughout this document.
