Key Commands

Fast Fish software makes liberal use of Keyboard shortcuts. Where it makes sense, we have tried to retain similar shortcuts as Composer, but there are many cases that the workflow does not match.

Any shortcuts marked global are active no matter which of the Main Views is active. If a shortcut is not marked Global, it is only active on its particular Main View.

  • Ctrl+Z Undo
  • Ctrl+Y Redo

Undo and Redo work in the Signal Flow Workspace (Space view) and in the Control Panel Group editor in Design mode. Each Space and each Control Panel Group keeps its own undo history. See Undo and Redo.

  • Ctrl+Tab Cycles through view tabs from left to right.

  • Ctrl+Shift+Tab Cycles through view tabs from right to left.

  • Ctrl+1 through Ctrl+8 Jumps to the first 8 tabs (1 being the first tab and 8 being the 8th). If a number is used that is higher than the visible tabs, it will jump to the last available tab.

  • Ctrl+9 Jumps to the right-most tab.

  • ++ctrl+++ Changes between Design and Operation modes.

  • Ctrl+[ Switches to Design mode.

  • Ctrl+] Switches to Operation mode.

Signal Flow Workspace

Zooming

  • Ctrl+= Resets Zoom

  • Ctrl+Scroll Up Zooms in

  • Ctrl+Scroll Down Zooms out

Zooming with the scroll wheel also works in the Control Panel Group view.

In Design mode, zooming out far enough hides each module's editing controls, such as the delete and mute buttons, the signal row buttons, and the drag handles. This prevents accidental edits when modules are too small to work with. The zoom level at which the controls disappear is around 40% and adjusts for your screen size and how many rows are visible. Zoom back in to use the controls again. In Operation mode, the mute and active buttons are shown at every zoom level.

Add/Delete Row/Col

In Design mode:

  • Ctrl+Click on a row or column header - Adds 5 rows or columns instead of 1

  • Shift+Click on a row or column header - Deletes the row or column instead of adding one

  • Ctrl+Shift+Click on a row or column header - Deletes 5 rows or columns

In Operation mode:

  • Click on a row or column header - Selects all modules in that row or column

  • Ctrl+Click on a row or column header - Adds all modules in that row or column to the current selection

Move Module(s)

  • Alt+Up Move selected module(s) up

  • Alt+Down Move selected module(s) down

  • Alt+Left Move selected module(s) left

  • Alt+Right Move selected module(s) right

Select Module(s)

  • Shift+Up Select module(s) above current selected module(s)

  • Shift+Down Select module(s) below current selected module(s)

  • Shift+Left Select module(s) to the left of current selected module(s)

  • Shift+Right Select module(s) to the right of current selected module(s)

  • Ctrl+Click or Shift+Click on a module - Adds the module to the current selection, or removes it if it is already selected

While you hold Ctrl or Shift, each module's hover controls (such as delete, mute, the signal row buttons, and the drag handles) are hidden. This lets the click land on the module itself, so it joins the selection instead of triggering a control by accident.

Module Clipboard Operations

  • Copy: Ctrl+C While Module(s) selected, adds it/them to copy buffer

  • Cut: Ctrl+X While Module(s) selected, adds it/them to copy buffer AND deletes selected modules

  • Paste: Ctrl+V Pastes Copy buffer into top left of currently selected cells. If no cell selected, does nothing. REPLACES selected module if a single module is selected with nothing else.

  • Paste with Insert: Ctrl+Alt+V Pastes Copy buffer into top left of currently selected cells. If no cell selected, does nothing. INSERTS selected module if a single module is selected with nothing else.

  • Duplicate: Ctrl+D Duplicates the selected modules below the originals.

  • Del Deletes the selected modules.

Control View

These shortcuts are available in Design mode.

  • Select All: Ctrl+A Selects all controls in the control view

  • Duplicate: Ctrl+D Duplicates the currently selected control(s).

  • Copy: Ctrl+C While Controls(s) selected, adds it/them to copy buffer

  • Cut: Ctrl+X While Controls(s) selected, adds it/them to copy buffer AND deletes selected modules

  • Paste: Ctrl+V Pastes Copy buffer to the right of a copied control(s), or in place of a cut control(s). Subsequent pastes will continue to place the control buffer controls to the right of the last ones with one column of space.

  • Del Unplaces the selected controls. They are removed from the panel but remain in the Control Panel Group's Unplaced Controls list.

  • Shift+Del Deletes the selected controls from the Control Panel Group entirely, after asking you to confirm.

Custom Control Theme Manager (CCTM)

  • Force delete: Shift+Click delete button

This skips the prompt asking the user if they are sure they want to delete the theme.

Global Keyboard Shortcuts

There are some additional Global Keyboard Shortcuts that are available on all screens that don't (yet) have a menu item.

  • Show/Hide Toolkit - There is an on screen control for this in the top of the toolkit

  • Show/Hide Modifier Panel - There is an onscreen control for this at the top of the toolkit.
