Audio Detector

Overview

The Audio Detector watches the level of each audio input and sets a matching control output. It has one detector per audio input, and the module keeps the number of audio inputs and control outputs the same. Audio passes through unchanged from A-In to A-Thru.

Each detector compares the input level (in dB) against two thresholds:

  • On Thresh: When the level reaches this threshold, the output turns on (100). Default: -20 dB.
  • Off Thresh: When the level falls below this threshold, the output turns off (0). Default: -21 dB.

Between the two thresholds the output keeps its current state. This hysteresis stops the output from switching rapidly when the level sits near a threshold. Set Off Thresh a little below On Thresh.

With Proportional on, the output follows the input level instead of switching between on and off. The output is 0 below Off Thresh and 100 at or above On Thresh. Between the two, it scales in a straight line from 0 to 100. When the two thresholds are equal, the output stays at 0.

Controls

Audio inputs section:

Per audio input:

  • AudioIn (Meter, read-only): Displays the audio input signal level.

Parameters section:

  • On Thresh (Fader): Sets the level at which the output turns on. Default: -20 dB. Range: -100 to 20 dB.
  • Off Thresh (Fader): Sets the level below which the output turns off. Default: -21 dB. Range: -100 to 20 dB.
  • Proportional (Button, toggle): When on, each output scales with the input level between Off Thresh and On Thresh instead of switching on and off. Default: off.

Per detector:

  • On (LED, read-only): Indicates the detector's output. Labeled On 1, On 2, and so on. In Proportional mode, the LED follows the output level.

Control outputs section:

Per control output:

  • Level (Numeric, read-only): Displays the current control output signal value.

Status:

  • Status (LED, read-only): Indicates script execution status.

I/O

  • A-In (Input, Audio): 0–64 signals, 1–64 channels
  • In (Input, Control): 0–64 signals, 1 channel
  • A-Thru (Output, Audio): 0–64 signals, 1–64 channels
  • Out (Output, Control): 1–64 signals, 1 channel

The Audio Detector turns off control inputs, so In is not used.
