Output Selector/Distributor
Overview
The Output Selector/Distributor sends a single audio input to one or more of its outputs. As a selector, it sends the input to exactly one output at a time, which suits jobs like sending one source to whichever room currently needs it. As a distributor, it can send the input to any number of outputs at once, such as paging a single source into any combination of zones.

Use the Output Routing property to choose the mode. Outputs switch on and off with a smooth fade rather than a click.

Controls

Input:
- Meter (LED, read-only): Audio level indicator for the input.
- Mute (Button, toggle): Mutes the input, turning off every output.
- Gain Readout (Numeric): Displays the current input gain value.
- Gain (Fader): Adjusts the input gain from -72 to +12 dB. The minimum setting turns the input off.
Input (shown when Output Routing is Selector/Single):
- Select (Drop List): Selects which output receives the input. Entries show the output number and name.
- Previous (Button, momentary): Selects the previous output. Stops at the first output, and repeats while held.
- Next (Button, momentary): Selects the next output. Stops at the last output, and repeats while held.
Per output:
- On (Button, toggle): Sends the input to this output. The button is labeled with the output number.
- Meter (LED, read-only): Audio level indicator for this output.
- Scribble (Text): Names this output. The name appears in the Select list. Default: Output 1, Output 2, and so on.
The On buttons behave differently in each mode:
- Selector/Single: The On buttons work as radio buttons. Turning one on turns the others off, and exactly one output is always on, so clicking the active button does not turn it off. The On buttons, Select, Previous and Next always stay in step with each other.
- Distributor/Multi: Each On button works independently, so you can send the input to any combination of outputs, including none. Select, Previous and Next are not shown.
I/O
- In (Input, Audio): 1 signal, 1–64 channels
- Out (Output, Audio): 1–64 signals, 1–64 channels
The outputs always use the same channel width as the input. If the total number of output channels (signals × channels) would exceed 128, Cognio reduces the channel width and logs an error.
