Cognio DesignOps 1.0.1 Release Notes

New Features

  • Added static IP address support for the C20, so a device can be given a fixed IP instead of relying on DHCP or link-local addressing. Access this from the new "Edit DHCP/Static IP" button in the device properties.
  • Enabled Min, Max and Threshold properties to contiguous controls, so LEDs and control functions such as panel navigation and preset recall can be triggered directly from those controls. This also allows controls like faders to be limited preventing user access to extreme values.
  • Added a flip-flop (latching) style to the Control Input module, letting a momentary switch closure latch a DSP parameter such as a mute.
  • Added new global Speech and Music signal generators to operation mode.
  • Added device Identify: triggering Identify in the app flashes the target device's front-panel LEDs so you can physically locate it.
  • Added ability to see total DSP usage across all Spaces on the same device.

Fixes and Improvements

  • Control Panels: CPG Notes were lost when deselecting or navigating to a new tab, and adding Notes caused the CPG to export as a .cogdriver instead of a .cogcpg file.
  • Control Panels: CPG thumbnails rendered hidden/unplaced controls not on the canvas.
  • Copy/Paste: Cutting and pasting modules could produce duplicates or modules whose controls no longer drove the DSP, and the Oscilloscope stopped working after a copy/paste.
  • Dante: Managed Dante devices could drop off after a few minutes on some systems, and Site Manager could not receive Dante keep-alive messages if Composer was started first.
  • Dante: Multi-signal-row audio output modules assigned Dante Tx names incorrectly when routing to Managed Devices.
  • Dante: The Rx sources list was grayed out and unclickable for Ultimo managed devices.
  • Managed Devices: Controls from a Managed Device placed on a CPG did not update the device when adjusted, and control pins could not be patched to.
  • Managed Devices: Deleting a Managed Device deleted all Signal IO patches in the Space rather than only the patches to that device, and audio input patches remained shown as patched to a device after it was deleted.
  • Managed Devices: Devices still showed as Paired after their IP address changed, could not be unpaired with the Pair button in Site View, and showed as unpaired when the Modifier Panel was open at Site View.
  • Managed Devices: Scripting metadata was not preserved when exporting regular or managed CPGs.
  • Managed Devices: The backend could crash when Lua code accessed an invalid audio or control pin.
  • Managed Devices: The same Managed Device could be added to multiple signal paths, and device IP addresses were shown needlessly truncated.
  • Meters & LEDs: Audio meters, peak readouts, control meters, and scripted-module readouts often failed to update live, staying static until you clicked away and back or pressed Reset.
  • Meters & LEDs: Clearing clip LEDs for one channel cleared every channel's clip LEDs, while Clear All cleared none.
  • Modules: The Channel Merger did not pass audio when synced to a C20.
  • Networking: With no Control or Audio networks selected the app showed no devices and no explanation — a dialog now prompts you to fix this.
  • Other minor fixes and improvements
  • Presets: Recalling a preset in a site with multiple C20s could cause presets to toggle rapidly back and forth.
  • Presets: Recalling or updating a preset — via remote control or a Preset Recall module — only affected the single unit the command was sent to instead of every unit the preset spanned.
  • Scripted Modules: The Send Text module showed decimal places on the port number.
  • Site Files: The app could be closed while a save was still in progress, losing unsaved changes; some sites could not be saved due to locked clip states; and brand-new sites referenced theme images that had not been applied.
  • Sync: Space sync could fail with "Pushed site ID does not match current site ID" after creating a new site, and File → New Site reused the previous site's Site ID.
  • Sync: The built-in signal generator did not sync to hardware when pushed, and lost its settings — reverting to pink noise — after save/reopen or a global sync.
  • Sync: The Threshold Detector's On/Off threshold values reset to 0 when a site was synced.
  • xIO Bluetooth: The pairing PIN readout did not work, and BT RCA 3.5mm devices showed the wrong right-channel source options.
  • xIO XLR: A physical button press on an xIO XLR did not properly trigger control signals, and device LEDs could not be controlled from DesignOps.
  • xIO XLR: Firmware could not be updated from DesignOps, and the xIn 12 / xOut 12 firmware files were missing from the installer.

Not Yet Implemented Features

The following features have not yet been implemented. They will be added in an upcoming Cognio DesignOps release.

    • No Site or Space level Firmware Updating (currently firmware updating must be done one device at a time)

Firmware Upgrade Instructions

  1. Launch Cognio DesignOps
  2. Add the Paired Device to be updated to a Space. This can be a real design or simply a blank space for the purpose of updating.
  3. With the PairDevice selected, view the Device Properties in the Modifier Panel.
  4. Click the Update Firmware button, navigate to the firmware you wish to use (the default location is C:\Program Files\Symetrix\Cognio DesignOps\Firmware) and click Open.
  5. The update will commence taking only a few seconds to transfer the file and register the update has completed. After this, the device will reboot and complete the update. This may take up to 3 minutes.
